Bonded storage

Stage stock, skip demurrage

Storage is not dead time. Used properly, a bonded facility close to your buyers turns a lumpy import programme into a steady, duty-efficient supply line — and stops your cargo racking up quay charges while you wait for an order to land.

Duty deferred until you sell

Goods held under bond have not formally entered the market, so duty and import VAT are not due until release. For a seasonal importer that is a serious cash-flow difference: you pay as stock leaves rather than the day a container lands. If the goods are later re-exported, they may never attract that duty at all.

Counted, climate-watched, insured

Temperature and humidity are monitored continuously, cycle counts run to a schedule and the readings sit against your inventory record. Cover extends to goods in store, not just goods in transit, so there is no awkward gap between the two policies at exactly the moment cargo sits still the longest.

Pick, pack and release on demand

Pick, pack and release on demand

Release the quantities your buyers actually order, packed to your specification, with the outbound leg booked on the same reference. Staging stock near the market removes days from every order and takes demurrage — the charge nobody budgets for — out of the equation completely.

Bonded storage: what our crew says

Five of the team who run this part of CargoVault, on the work itself and on how far the company has come. Let it drift, or drag it yourself.

EL

Emma Larsen

Warehouse manager, Malmö

“We began with one bonded unit and a forklift with a temper. The building we run now counts itself, and the customers who started with us are still here.”
9 years at CargoVault
RC

Rafael Costa

Inventory controller, Porto

“Cycle counts used to be a yearly argument. Now they are a Tuesday. Accurate stock is the quietest kind of customer service there is.”
5 years at CargoVault
JW

Julia Weber

Bond compliance, Hamburg

“Customs walk in unannounced and we open the records without any nerves. Getting to that point took years of doing the boring thing properly.”
7 years at CargoVault
TB

Tim Brouwer

Pick and pack lead, Eindhoven

“We pack to each customer's spec, not ours. It is slower on paper and it is why our returns rate is a rounding error.”
4 years at CargoVault
SM

Sanna Mäkinen

Cold store technician, Turku

“My sensors talk to the customer's record directly now. If a chiller drifts half a degree, we both know before anything is at risk.”
