Road freight
Road freight and final mile, driven by people we can name
Road is where most freight is actually lost, damaged or delivered to the wrong hands, because it is the leg with the most human touchpoints. CargoVault treats it with the same discipline as an ocean or air movement: vetted drivers, sealed loads, scanned handovers and a delivery that is proven rather than assumed.

How it works
Every stage, start to signature
Collection by our pickup crew
You give us an address and a window; our bus arrives inside it. The crew counts and weighs on the spot, applies the CargoVault label that carries your tracking number, photographs the packages as presented, and hands over a collection receipt. That receipt and those photographs settle any later argument about what was actually collected and in what condition.
Dedicated, groupage or trunking
Dedicated haulage puts your load alone on a vehicle that goes point to point — the fastest and least-handled road option. Groupage shares the trailer and the cost, with each consignment kept as a distinct, scanned unit rather than a loose pile. Long-distance work moves on trunk runs between our hubs, with a scan at each hub transfer.
Live progress on the road leg
The tracking dashboard renders the road leg with a real position between origin and destination, and each depot arrival, depot departure and driver change is a checkpoint in the timeline. If a vehicle is delayed by traffic, weather or a border queue, the reason goes on the record instead of a silent slipped date.
Delivery, proof and returns
The final-mile driver captures a signature, the recipient's name and a photograph at the point of handover, all attached to your tracking number within seconds. Failed deliveries are logged with the reason and re-attempted on an agreed date; refused or undeliverable goods are returned to a bonded location rather than left with a neighbour.
Why it is safe with CargoVault
Security you can audit, not just be promised
Vetted drivers, not anonymous subcontractors
Every driver on our network is identity-checked, licence-verified and tied to their scans. When a package moves, the record says who was holding it. Sub-contracting to an unvetted third party is not permitted on CargoVault consignments, which removes the single most common cause of untraceable loss on road freight.
Sealed loads and secure overnight standing
Trailers are sealed after loading and the seal number travels with the manifest. Overnight stops use secured, monitored yards rather than roadside laybys, and high-value loads are routed to avoid unattended standing altogether. Loading and unloading are supervised, and any discrepancy is raised before the vehicle leaves the site.
Insurance and evidence on the shortest leg too
All-risk cover applies to road movements exactly as it does to ocean and air, including the last mile, the depot dwell and any bonded storage in between. Because every touch is photographed and timestamped, a claim is settled from evidence we already hold rather than from a reconstruction weeks later.

What people get wrong about this service
“Road freight is the simple part”
It is the leg with the most human touchpoints, which makes it the leg where most loss, damage and misdelivery actually happens. We apply ocean-grade discipline to it: named drivers, sealed loads, scanned handovers and photographic proof at the door.
“Groupage means my pallet gets crushed”
Not when loading is planned rather than improvised. Weight goes low, fragile goes secured, and each consignment stays a scanned unit. Where cartons arrive loose, we palletise and shrink-wrap before they enter a shared trailer.
“A missed delivery is nobody's fault”
It is somebody's, and the record says whose. Failed attempts are logged with the reason, re-attempted on an agreed date, and undeliverable goods return to a bonded location rather than being left with a neighbour or in a porch.
Questions
Answers before you book
Do you deliver to residential addresses?
Yes, and we treat them properly: a booked window, a call ahead where requested, and a signature plus photograph at the door. Nothing is left unattended unless you instruct us to in writing.
Can you handle a full trailer load?
Dedicated haulage puts your load alone on a vehicle running point to point — the fastest, least-handled road option, and usually the best value above roughly a dozen pallets.
What about customs on European road freight?
Post-Brexit UK–EU movements need export and import declarations, and our brokers file both. Missing paperwork is the single biggest cause of trailers sitting at a border, and it is entirely avoidable.
How is the road leg tracked?
Your dashboard shows a real position between origin and destination, with depot arrivals, departures and driver changes as individual checkpoints. Traffic, weather and border queues are recorded as reasons rather than silent slippage.
